The Warriors are Leaking Oil

YAHOO-Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant had an early exit from their game against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday night after he injured his right ankle. Durant, while attempting to pass the ball from near the block midway through the fourth quarter, landed awkwardly and twisted his right ankle on DeAndre Ayton’s foot before falling to the ground. Durant stood up and walked off the floor to the locker room under his own power, seemingly moving fine as he did so.

What a scary moment last night for one of the leagues best. Luckily it doesn’t seem serious, but with a Warriors team that has lost four of their last six, that had to be alarming. Ankle injuries terrify me. There’s no emptier feeling than when you roll your ankle and for a slight second you think you snapped it. It just feels so awkward. I couldn’t imagine that feeling as a lanky 7-footer. I know the Warriors won a championship without Durant, but with how Demarcus Cousins and Draymond Green are playing, losing him would’ve been a quite the disaster.
Speaking of Draymond Green, Steve Kerr had some interesting words about him last night.
Steve Kerr is great. Very honest coach that always gives good sound bites during interviews. However, this is one I’m sure he doesn’t want out there. Kerr isn’t necessarily saying anything wrong here. He’s actually expressing how most of us feel about Draymond Green. (Besides Ben as he enjoys the fact that Green plays with what he calls MOXY.)
So is this recent stretch an indicator that the Warriors might not defend their NBA Championship? Not one bit. It’s not easy to get up for games against the Phoenix Suns on a Sunday night when you’re used to playing NBA finals games every year. Vegas still has the Warriors as -220 favorites to win it all and in all honesty that may even be too high.
